About Us

The problem

The average post-thaw viability, motility and fertility of frozen-thawed buffalo spermatozoa is substantially low because during traditional cryopreservation, sperm are faced with physiological and structural challenges due to changes in osmotic balance and oxidative stress. Unfortunately, spermatozoa are unable to restore the damage induced by oxidative stress because they lack the necessary cytoplasmic-enzyme repair systems.

Defective sperm are the main reason for fertilization failures and providing optimal conditions during semen storage is thus a prerequisite for maintaining viability. Vitamins and minerals, known for their antioxidant properties, along with other compounds can be utilized to combat cryo-damage and improve overall post-thaw quality of sperm.

Furthermore, most collection facilities require the animal to be brought to the facility – leading to high costs of transportation and stress for the animal due to travel and the change of place.

Our offering

Enter Mobilab - Mobilab is a mobile semen collection facility offering on-site collection for farmers, with zinc nanocomposites (bio) used to aid the cryopreservation process as an antioxidant in semen extender. Peer-reviewed research has shown preservation using zinc nanoparticles increases motility and integrity of sperm by approximately 20%, whereas traditional methods lead to 50% of sperm dying in the freeze-thaw process.

The Mobilab Difference

  1. To prevent stress to the animal from transportation to the facility, our facility will use a solar panel powered mobile lab to go to the breeder

  2. We will ensure increased motility and integrity of sperm by adding zinc nanocomposites (bio) during preservation

  3. We will offer the option to freeze the collected sample in the mobile Mobilab and store with the breeder (with regular visits to ensure proper freezing and refilling of liquid nitrogen)

  4. Oxidative stress due to freezing and thawing with conventional process has the potential to cause genetic and epigenetic changes, killing about 50% of the sperm. The presence of zinc nanoparticles will help in reducing the oxidative stress.
